Group Project (Individual)

Some of the things that I’ve contributed to the group project were I didn't miss any lessons of GP for this group project. I was given different homework and I've done it on time. Our group project is about peak oil and our main goal for this project was to create a documentary to show different scenarios of what till happen if there's no more oil in the world and how can we prevent this from happening. Our idea was that we show awareness about the peak oil and using hybrid cars and electric cars we can preserve the oil for a longer period of time. I had the idea of using hybrid and electric cars as our outcome of this project so I've shared my ideas to my group members. I was also assigned to check out the BMW first electric car in Pavilion and I've done that. I took pictures and asked them about how the car works etc. I even got the brochure for it. I've also shared my ideas about using Hong Kong and Singapore as a case study of how effective they were on public transport because in Malaysia majority of people drive cars and not using the public transport.

The things that I would do differently next time are be more focus. That's my and our group first priority. To be more focus because we sometimes get distracted. Better time management because sometimes I'll do my homework a day before it due for this project and it is not a good thing because I will not take it seriously and this will let my group members down so I need better time management for my actual group project.

What I've learnt about working together were that it is not just only about you as the previous project that we did was our individual project. So on this project we need to share your ideas to your team members and discuss effectively and share the work loads effectively. I've also learnt that we need to be on time for our meetings (mostly on facebook) so that others members don't have to wait for another hour for someone to come online.

The things that has been good/challenging about working as a part of a group were that we really bonded because before we started this project we really didn't talk to each other that much so this project and us as a team really bonded us. We know each other better and we know what are their weakness and strength. The thing that's quite challenging is that sometimes we argue on the ideas or things we have to do whether if it was relevant to our project or if it was necessarily to be on our project. The other thing that was challenging was that one of our group members procrastinate a lot and sometimes he doesn't work a lot so that the main problem that we have to solve as quickly as possible.

Things that I've learnt about deciding on and planning a project was that it is not as easy as it seems. It took quite a while to agree on what we want to do. We sometimes argue and we don't go anywhere so that consume some of the time that we had. Planning and producing research was alright because our group had to research on what is peak oil, hybrid cars and electric cars. Reading and presenting my ideas was alright because I have a clear idea of what my ideas were and sometimes my ideas and other group member's ideas were the same. Overall I think I've done a good job and hope that I will improve on my weakness and be constant on my strength.

Peak Oil Group Project Reflection (group)

Throughout the time when we were doing our mock group project, we came to realize certain things. One, we were discussing more frequently than before. We were listening to all the options and ideas given and we developed them until we were satisfied with the results. We were working well within the time frame given, making sure that all the homework that needed to be completely was done and that everyone had completed their specific tasks. But when we looked back at the past couple of weeks, as a group, we realized that we were frequently distracted, often going of topic. We also had the tendency to assign everyone the same homework and that lead to some people not doing anything at all for homework. With the discussions, we noticed that sometimes, certain people would be leading the discussions and not leave any room for others to make suggestions or say their opinions. So to improve ourselves and to make sure that when we do our actual group project, we don't make the same mistakes, we decided to change a little bit. For starters we would make sure that EVERYONE will be contributing to the discussions and that everyone will have a say in what the group will do next. Also, when it comes to setting homework, we would split up the work, getting only some to do the research and to get the others to focus on developing ideas and other pieces of work. And most importantly, we will try to stay on the topic and try not to get distracted. Overall we have come a long way from last year and we have seen improvements. But we still have more to improve on and we shall try our best during this group project.
